Argentine Ants: The Argentine Ant is the most common ant in California. If this ant invades your home, calling the professionals at Air 2 Ground Pest Control is a must. These ants don’t just build a colony, they form super colonies, all connected and have multiple queens. Inside buildings, household ants feed on sugar, syrup, honey, fruit juice, fats, and meat. Long trails of thousands of ants may lead from nests to food sources, causing considerable concern among building occupants.

The Carpenter Ant can cause destruction to the wooden structures on your property, and unfortunately, the most destructive Carpenter Ants in the western United States are in California. Carpenter Ants live in large colonies that consist of an extensive network of galleries and tunnels often beginning in an area where there is damage from water or wood decay. Once in, it is just a matter of time before they make their way into the wood support of your home and break down the integrity of the structure. Be careful not to get bitten by one of these ants. They will spray formic acid into the bite, creating a burning sensation.

Western Black Widow Spiders: The female Black Widow spider has a very toxic bite and is easily identified by her completely black body and the red or orange hourglass-shaped marks on the abdomen. This spider will build her web between items in dark places like garages, attics and inside closets, making it easy for a person to stumble across, and will aggressively attack when provoked. The males are smaller than the females and are not known to bite. They can be identified by yellow and red bands and spots that will appear on their backs. A bite from a female can cause symptoms to appear immediately or in some cases takes hours to appear. There are many ways the bite can affect you and some of these symptoms are: headache, dizziness, muscle pain or cramping, restlessness and difficulty breathing. A person who is allergic will find themselves in a medical emergency.

The Wolf Spider is one of the fastest of the arachnids has appeared in countless horror movies and if you find one in your home, you will realize how scary, and fast they are. The Wolf Spider is a big spider, and one of the few spiders with excellent eyesight. They do not spin webs to catch prey, rather they hunt their prey by chasing it down. Wolf Spiders will attack if provoked and symptoms of their bites include mild pain, swelling and itching. They depend highly on camouflage and many bites take place when the spider is surprised. As with most spiders, an infestation usually means that there is ample food supply, meaning other bugs.

These are just a few of the many. Call us today at Air 2 Ground Pest Control. We will come out and give you a free inspection to assess for any infestation and remove any of the dangerous bugs that are lurking in and around your home.
